Pierre and I went to Cuenca to visit my friend Maggie and to celebrate our 3 year anniversary (which is actually September 20th, but we celebrated early). Cuenca is the prettiest, cleanest city in Ecuador. Very colonial and pleasant. This is a picture of a street sign, which are attached to the sides of buildings.

Pierre and I were trying not to use our flash when we were taking pictures of the interior of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (I think that is what it´s called). The interior was really impressive, I´m not sure if these pictures demonstrate that.

Front altar at the Cathedral.
Side shrines at the Cathedral.
Pierre and I went to the Mirador in Cuenca to get a view of the entire city. This is a shrine that was near the top of the hill.

View of Cuenca from the southern edge of the city.
Pierre with his Wolverine pride!
Our first self-portrait with my nifty swivel viewscreen!
The Cathedral of the Immactulate Conception has three large blue domes, which I could only get a picture of from the Mirador (using the awesome zoom feature on my camera!)

Funky statue of the Ecuadorian Olympic champion speed walker.

Me and Maggie in the Calderon park.

There were lots of hummingbirds flitting around the flowers in the Calderon Park. But they were too fast, and we couldn´t get any pictures of them.
Last picture of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception!

Breakfast with local Cuenca Peace Corps volunteers; Maggie, Benito, Jonathan, and Pierre.
Me and Maggie, don´t know why my head is so big in this photo.

Pierre and I, happy to be in Cuenca, after our long 11 hour bus ride from Santo Domingo.
